Easy vCard Documentation
People
In the WordPress backend, you can create contacts under „Easy vCard“ and edit the entries directly.
- Button „Add New Person“
Using the button, you can create a new person. Clicking the button will create a new row. - Picture
Using the edit pen, you can add an image and either select from the media library or upload it as a new file. - Personal Data
Click in the table cells to enter personal data. When you leave a field, the value is saved – a green border will briefly appear. - Location
Here you can assign a location. Locations should be defined beforehand via „Easy vCard > Locations“. Adding locations is explained in the next section. - Slug
Here you can adjust the slug for each person. A slug is automatically created when creating a vCard. When using a short URL, the slug appears after the slash: sub.domain.de/slug The slug can be, for example, the name of an employee, a number, or initials. - Link
Displays the link to the relevant vCard. - QR Code
Displays the link as a QR code. Clicking on the QR code allows you to download an SVG file of the QR code.
Locations
You can create locations in the WordPress admin panel. You can then assign these to the people you’ve added in the overview. This means that address and contact details for a location only need to be entered once.
- Button „Add new location“
You can add a new location (office or company site) using the button. Clicking the button will create a new line. - Picture
The location image is optional. It can only be displayed in the web view of the vCard. Use the image, for example, to display a logo next to the person’s profile picture. - Location
This name is used to identify a person. The name of the location does not appear in the vCard. - Location details
Click in the table cells to enter location details. When you leave a field, the value is saved – a green border will briefly appear.
Settings
On the settings page, you can define the display of the vCard's web view, an alternative domain, and options for the vCard itself.
General
- Image for vCard
Select whether the image of the person or the location should be displayed in the vCard. - Image for web viewing
Select whether the person’s photo, the location, or both should be displayed in the vCard’s web view. - Download button text
This is the text on the button used to download the vCard. - CSS for web view
You can customise the web view of the vCard using your own CSS. Simply enter your CSS here. - Always display the vCard in the web view
By default, when you open a vCard, it is immediately sent to your smartphone’s system for display. If you would prefer to always see the web view of the vCard instead, tick this option. - Short URL options
You can select this option to shorten the generated vCard URLs. This option does not work in conjunction with the „Use a different domain for vCards“ option, and once it has been configured and saved, you will need to regenerate the permalinks in WordPress. - Use a different domain for the vCards
By default, vCards are provided via a URL that is relatively long for technical reasons. If you’d like to use a short URL, a different domain or your own subdomain for your vCards, select this option and enter the domain in the „New domain“ field. With short URLs, the generated QR code is less complex and can therefore be displayed in a smaller size and scanned more easily. Once you have set the URL, you can point your subdomain to the plugin’s folder so that the WebView loads directly there.

Import
- Upload The CSV file must meet the minimum requirements for a standard CSV file. The content should be a comma-separated list of personal data. The column names must be specified in the first row. Upload a .csv file via the file field.
- Classification: You can then map the columns in your CSV file to the columns in the vCard. Unmapped fields are ignored for existing vCards and left blank for new vCards.
- Mapping of email addresses, telephone numbers and websites: As these three entries must have a mapping between label and value, two columns must be selected for each entry during import to ensure the correct mapping. The column names in the CSV must have the same prefix, except that the label column contains an additional suffix. If no relationship can be established between two columns, or if only one column is specified, the entries are interpreted as values and the labels are left blank. Please feel free to refer to the description of the sample export/import files listed below.
- Example: Importing email addresses using a label column and an email address column
- Is correctly recognised by the system:
- Email (column name for addresses), Email label (column name for labels)
- Email-0 (column name for addresses), Email-0-Label (column name for labels)
- Entry1 (Column name of addresses), Entry1_Label (Column name of labels)
- Not recognised by the system
- Label, Label_Adresse
- Email (column name of addresses), Label (column name of labels)
- Updates: When importing, the „Slug“ field is matched. If the slug matches an existing entry in the corresponding column, that entry will be overwritten with all new values. If the slug does not yet exist, a new entry will be created.
